Obituary

Agnes V. (Barry) Pelczar, 91, of Mattapoisett died November 17, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital peacefully after a wonderful life.

She was the wife of the late Charles Pelczar.

Born in New Bedford on Dec. 17, 1910 , the daughter of the late Martin and Annie (Curran) Barry, she had lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to Mattapoisett in 1968.

She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, Mattapoisett.

Mrs. Pelczar had worked as an educator in the New Bedford Public School System for 34 years. She had served as principal at the Allen F. Wood School, Thomas A. Greene School, and Thomas R. Rodman School, until her retirement in 1971.

She was a member of the New Bedford Catholic Women's Club, the Daughters of Isabella, the Retired State & National Education Association and the Women's Guild of St. Anthony's Church. She was a graduate of Holy Name Grammar School in 1924, New Bedford High School in 1928, Fitchburg State College in 1931 and Bridgewater State College in 1933.

Survivors include 2 nieces, Kathleen Evans of Mattapoisett and Margaret King of Virginia; 4 nephews, Robert Marchessault of Long Island, NY, Barry Marchessault of Connecticut, Joseph Barry of California, and Thomas Barry of Vermont; her special friend and relative by marriage, George Evans of Mattapoisett; and grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was the sister of the late Helen F. Barry, Susan A. Quinlan, Hugh J. Barry, Elizabeth M. Marchessault, Martin P. Barry, Francis deS. Barry, John D. Barry, Thomas P. Barry, and Margaret M. McIntyre, and aunt of the late Thomas F. Quinlan.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett Thursday, November 21st at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Anthony's Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Wednesday, November 20th from 3-6 PM.

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
