Alexander Jordan Eastman Gomes

Alexander J. Eastman Gomes, 35, of New Bedford, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Born in Harvey, IL, son of Gregory Eastman and Rosa Gomes, he lived in New Bedford most of his life. He also lived in Celebration, FL, Siesta Key, FL, and Davidson, NC.

Alex was an avid fan of all things sports and fitness. He enjoyed creating artwork and fabulous cuisines in the kitchen. He was a passionate athlete from birth, who excelled at a wide range of sports, always embracing the spirit of competition and camaraderie. His family and friends meant everything to him, especially his parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins. But most importantly, he cherished his daughter Jayda, who shares her Dad's love for art, dance, and athletics. She was the light of his life and his pride and joy. 

Survivors include his parents; his daughter Jayda Gomes and her mother Natalie Andrade; his siblings LaShauna Barboza and Austin Mendes; his grandparents Eugenia Andrade and Jose Andrade; his niece Mareya Barboza; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family members.

His visiting hours will be held Monday, June 8, 2026 from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. His Funeral will be held Tuesday starting at 8 AM in the Funeral Home with a service and 9 AM and burial in Rural Cemetery.
