Alfred Pina, Jr. 88, of East Providence, RI died peacefully at his Maryland home on July 29, 2016, after a long illness. He was born on May 18, 1928 in New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was the son of Alfred and Mary Pina. He resided most of his life in Providence, RI. He was a husband to his loving wife of 61 years, MaryAnn Pina.
Alfred, proudly served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1949. He worked at Howard Clothing, Textron and Speidel Watch Co. for over 25 years.
He loved spending time with his family, classic music and old movies. He was a loving father and grandfather who often found time to help others. His warm personality, smile and upbeat sense of humor made those around him always feel comfortable.
Survivors include: his wife, MaryAnn and their 2 children, son, Craig A. Pina who resides in Mesa, AZ. His daughter, Robin Pina Clark and son-in-law, Kevin S. Clark, who reside in Nottingham, MD. His 6 grandchildren, Derek M. Grant, Korey S. Clark, Kyla S. Clark, Dallas E. Pina, Jasmyn A. Pina and Madison A. Pina. His sisters, Helen Jenkins and Anita Robinson, along with brothers, Frank and Richard Pina of New Bedford, MA, and Burt Pina of Mattapoisett, MA; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
His Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 16th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
