Alfred F. Martin, 88, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday January 20, 2025.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Alfred F. and Anna (Ochab) Martin, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Alfred was formerly employed by Eastern Sportswear, U.S. Ringbinder, and Star Plating.  After his retirement, he delivered meals-on-wheels for Coastline Elderly.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was an avid stamp and coin collector.  He enjoyed reading, fishing, doing jigsaw puzzles, and meeting his friends at Friendly Donuts in New Bedford.

He is survived by his siblings, Beverly Garcia and her husband Richard of New Bedford and Jan Martin and his wife Jean of Venice, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

His memorial service will be held on Sunday February 2nd at 2 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.  His family will receive visitors prior to the service from 12-2 PM.    A private family burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery.  For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
