Allan S. Bates, 91, of Acushnet, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Maria A. (Dinis) Bates.
Born in Dennisport, he was the son of the late Curtis S. Bates and Blanche D. (Paquette) Bates.
Mr. Bates was a graduate of Dartmouth High School and the New Bedford Institute of Technology. He was formerly employed by Arkwright Finishing as a textile chemist until his retirement.
He was a member of the Reservation Golf Club in Mattapoisett.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert A. Bates of Fairhaven; a daughter, Lori Bates of Newport, RI; a brother, Curtis S. Bates, Jr. of Sacramento, CA; four grandchilden, Suzanne L. Beauchemin and her husband Michael, Aaron R. Bates and his wife Lindsay, Jessica L. Dzwilewski and her husband Jason, and Tyler C. Bates; eight great-grandchilden, Ryan, Gage, Aven, Brody, Mia, Cameron, Ivy and Noah and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late James A. Bates.
