Amelia (Pina) Barros, 88, of New Bedford passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 at home surrounded by her family after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Cesario DeBarros, and daughter of the late Djudju and Dimitilia DePina.

Mrs. DeBarros was born in Fogo, Cape Verde and had lived in Fogo before moving to New Bedford in 1982.

She enjoyed traveling and feeding anyone who walked through her door.

Survivors include 8 sons, Natalio DeBarros, Francisco "Frank" DeBarros, Damiaõ DeBarros, Daniel DeBarros, Felipe DeBarros, Jose DeBarros and Estevao "Steve" DeBarros, all of New Bedford and Antonio DeBarros of South Dartmouth; 2 daughters, Maria Laura Barros of Montreal and Maria "Tchica" Barros of New Bedford; 26 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son, Agnelo DeBarros.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
