Andrew B. Chase IV, 57, of New Bedford died Friday March 13, 2009 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a breif illness. He was the husband of Carol A. (Carvalho) Chase; they had been married for 35 years.

Born in New Bedford, the son of Barbara D. (Wood) Chase and the late Andrew B. Chase III, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Mr. Chase was formerly employed by Shaw's Supermarket as a bakery department manager until his retirement in 2005.

He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were the loves of his life. He enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and going to the casinos.

Survivors include his loving wife and mother; his loving daughter, Melissa Chase of New Bedford; two brothers, David L. Chase of New Bedford and Paul A. Chase of California; two sisters, Deborah E. McLaughlin of Pennsylvania and Barbara L. Flynn of New Bedford; two beloved grandchildren, Alexia and Jeremiah Garcia; and several nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
