Anita A. Ghilardi, 90, of New Bedford died Tuesday February 20, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John B. and Mary A. (Finni) Ghilardi, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Miss Ghilardi was formerly employed as the principal of the Merrimac Street School and the H.A. Kempton School until her retirement in 1978.

She received a Bachelor's degree from Bridgewater State College and a Master's degree from Columbia University.

Survivors include a brother, Louis Ghilardi and his wife Therese of East Freetown; two sisters, Eleanor Castellina and Caroline Galvao, both of New Bedford; three nieces, Carol Potter, Charlene Karns, and Christine Lamoureux; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was the sister of the late Robert Ghilardi.

Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 3, 2007 at 9:30 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church. Entombment Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum, Fall River. Visiting hours are omitted.
