Ann (Aylward) Tremblay, 84, of New Bedford passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday July 20, 2024.
Born on April 25,1940 to the late Francis and Mary (Sullivan) Aylward, she was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. She was the devoted wife of the late Wilfred H. Tremblay for 51 years and the mother of the late Michael Tremblay.
She is survived by her children, James Tremblay and his wife Kristine, Maureen Oliveira and her husband Richard, Kathleen Hartford and her husband Eric, Christine Williams and her husband Tyrone, Allan Tremblay, Joseph Tremblay, Luciana Tremblay, and Mary Fe Viera and her husband Felipe. She is also survived by her brother John Aylward. She was the loving grandmother to her 12 Grandchildren: Erin, Alison, Shannon, Sara, Julia, Sophia, Gabrielle, Matthew, Kai, Jaiden, Kenji and Cameron.
Ann was a graduate of Holy Family High School and St Anne's Nursing School. After graduating as a RN, she was employed for over 35 years as an Operating Room Nurse at St Anne's Hospital in Fall River. She also worked as a Hospice Care Nurse. After her retirement, she continued part time employment at the Gabriel House Assisted Living Program in Fall River. She also worked part time as a nurse at Bishop Stang High School.
She was a communicant of St Julie Billiart Parish in Dartmouth.
Ann was the director of Birthright in New Bedford for over 50 years and was honored for her work in 2023 with a special Mass and celebration. She was a volunteer for many years at LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro. She also volunteered for the Girl Scouts when her girls were younger. In recent years she was active at the St Anthony of Padua Food Pantry continuing her love of helping others. She enjoyed traveling especially going to Walt Disney World with her family and enjoyed summers at the family cottage in Lakeville on Long Pond.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday July 27th at 10 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church, Dartmouth. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
