Antoinette M. "Nettie" (Gomes) Pina, 78, of New Bedford died Thursday March 29, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of Manuel Pina.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Herminia (Alves) Soares and Marcelino E. Gomes, she lived in New Bedford for all of her life.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.

Mrs. Pina was formerly employed by the Bristol County Registry of Deeds and by LifeStream, Inc. She also had been a licensed beautician.

She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Bristol Community College. She was a member of the Cape Verdean-American Veterans Auxiliary and the Cape Verdean Retirees Club.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Manuel "Kirk" Pina, Jr. and his wife Caryn Bradley-Pina of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Preston M. Pina, Reneé Antoinette Pina, and Jordan C. Alexis; and a great-granddaughter, Daziah.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 6-9 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
