Arnold H. Parsons, 83, of New Bedford died March 10, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Cynthia (Gill) Parsons.
Born and raised in Provincetown, the son of the late Capt. Frank and Mary (Thomas) Parsons, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.
Mr. Parsons was retired from the family seafood business Captain Frank's Seafood Market/Acushnet Fish, Inc.
He was a communicant of St. James Church.
He was a graduate of Holy Family High School and Bryant College.
Mr. Parsons was the recipient of the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River and was a charter member of the Serra Club of New Bedford. He loved boating and was an avid sports fisherman.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; his son, Arnold Parsons and his wife Nadine of New Bedford; his daughter, Cindy Oliveira and her husband Daniel of South Dartmouth; four grandchildren Matthieu Oliveira, Lauren Oliveira, Marlayna Parsons, and Aisha Hammer; a sister, Dorothy Rubbicco of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Frank Parsons, Jr., Ralph Parsons, and Richard Parsons.
His Funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass in St. James Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. James Church, 233 County St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
