Arthur Anderson, 76, of New Bedford died Wednesday June 11, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Christina (Enos) Anderson.

Born in Clayton, Alabama, the son of the late Charles and Estelle (Griffin) Anderson, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.

Mr. Anderson was formerly employed as a machinist for Continental Screw Company and Alberox until his retirement.

He loved fishing, camping, and the outdoors.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Valerie Anderson and Tracy DeBarros, both of New Bedford, Arthur Anderson, Jr. and his wife Jane of West Dennis, and Cheri Hayes and her husband Daniel of Lithonia, GA; a brother, William Anderson of New Bedford; his son-in-law, Jeffrey DeBarros; four grandchildren, Roshauna DeBarros, Jeffrey DeBarros Jr., Ariel Anderson, and Brandon Hayes; and nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Mary Irvin.
