Arthur C. Rice, 85, of Mattapoisett died March 29, 2011 at Alden Court Nursing Home.
He was the husband of the late Rosalie W. (Schofield) Rice.
Born in Lubec, ME, the son of the late Queenie (Rice) Tyler, he lived in Mattapoisett most of his life.
Mr. Rice was formerly employed by Quaker Oats for 40 years in Maine and New Bedford.
He loved to quahog in Mattapoisett and was a great father and friend.
Mr. Rice served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member and Past Master of the Washington Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Lubec, ME.
Survivors include three children, Christie DeCosta of Mattapoisett, Brian Rice and his wife Sonja of Florida and Vicki Rice of New Bedford; three brothers, Gary Tyler and his wife Joan of Northeast Harbor, ME, Richard McLeod of Las Vegas and Fredrick McLeod of Portland, OR; one sister, Judith Buell and her husband Joe of Fairfield, CA; 5 grandchildren, Kathy Peterson and her husband Shaun, Michal Gajewski and his wife Kate, Brian Rice and his wife Darby, Eugene Griffin and Stephanie Rebello and her husband Kevin; 11 great-grandchildren.
His Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 12th at 3 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
