Ashley L. Canfield

Ashley L. Canfield, 38, of New Bedford passed away Sunday April 12, 2026 at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Born and raised in Fall River, the daughter of the late Edward M. and Patricia A. (Beaulieu) Canfield, she lived in New Bedford for most of her adult life.

Ashley had received support services through the Kennedy Donovan Center for 23 years, had been a member of SMEC-ADH for the past 16 years, and recently began receiving services from LifeStream. She established many lasting friendships with clients and staff at these programs throughout the years.

Ashley was a fun-loving person who loved shopping, going to Dunkin, listening to country music, and dressing as a princess.

A special thanks is given to the staff of Children’s Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Ashley during her illness, especially her cardiologist Dr. John Treidman who followed her throughout her entire life.

She is survived by her sisters, Jennifer and Nicole; her loving caregiver, Maria Fernandes and family who Ashley resided with for 19 years; her friend and guardian, Bette Mullen; her special friend, Kristen Reid; and several nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and her aunt, Trudy Canfield.

Her visitation will be held on Tuesday April 21st from 10-11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, followed by her funeral service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, remebrances may be made to SMEC-ADH, 25 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02748.
