Aurora T. (Tavares) DeMiranda, 88, of New Bedford died August 2, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of Antonio DeMiranda.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Andrew and Emilia (Pereira) Tavares, she moved to Brockton in 1967 before moving to New Bedford in 1984.
Mrs. DeMiranda was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She enjoyed dancing.
Survivors include her husband; 3 daughters, Eunice Rosa and her husband Manuel of Brava, Cape Verde, Louisa Soares and her husband Daniel and Julia Tavares, all of Brockton; a step-son, Francisco DeMiranda of Brockton; a brother, Agunando Tavares of Brockton; 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late John Tavares.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Saturday, August 6th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, August 5th from 4-8 PM.
