Beatrice I. (Montminy) Bachand, 85, of New Bedford died Sunday December 29, 2013 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Roger A. "Bucky" Bachand.

Born in Acushnet, the daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Benoit) Montminy, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph - St. Therese Church.

She enjoyed shopping and family vacations.

Survivors include four children, Paul Bachand of Altamonte Springs, FL, Ronald Bachand of Acushnet, Jeannine Picard and her husband Paul of Lakeville, and Diane Martin and her husband Robert of New Bedford; a sister, Cecile Fagan of Plano, TX; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Martin; and nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Alexander Montminy.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM at St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 5-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
