Beatrice P. (Barros) Pina, 89, of New Bedford died August 13, 2010 at Royal Taber Street Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late John G. Pina and Caesar Burgo, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Pedro and Rose (Gilmette) Barros, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Pina was formerly employed by Coastline Elderly Services. She had also worked in several local textile mills and also as a domestic.
Her greatest satisfaction in life was knowing she was able to be instrumental in realizing that each of her three daughters earned their degrees in their respected careers and beyond.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Dr. Barbara A. Perriera of Dartmouth, Jeanne R Barrows, R.N., M.Ed. of Berkley and Joyce M. Cruz, R.N. of New Bedford; 3 grandchildren, John M. Perriera of Dartmouth, Shawn M. Burgo of West Medford and Nicholas M. Cruz of New Bedford; and 2 great-grandchildren, Olivia Hope Perriera and Emilia May Perriera.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 17th at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Her family will receive guests on Tuesday morning from 7:45-8:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St.
