Benjamin D. Cabral

Benjamin David Cabral, 51, of Fairhaven, MA passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026. His battle with cancer ended at home peacefully surrounded by his wife, children, and mother.

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of Cheryl A. (Grimes) Cabral and the late David Cabral.

Ben grew up in Dartmouth, MA, known to many as Benny. Growing up in Meadowood with his sister was the place he made so many friends and lifelong connections having shared kickball games, bike rides, sledding, the pond, and so much more.

Ben was a funny guy, made silly faces, made you laugh and still told you like it was. He had a good heart, would give you the clothes off his back, didn't judge others, and was willing to lend a helping hand. He loved working on his motorcycle, taking it apart and putting it back together; just like when he was a little boy, he loved taking things apart and putting them back together - and then taking them apart again and repeat.

His wife Stephanie was the love of his life. "He changed my life and I changed his." Ben was dedicated and worked hard to take care of his family. He would go above and beyond for them.

He loved his dogs, having made it a mission to rescue many Pitbulls throughout his life and provide a home to many who became part of their family. That mission was passed down to his oldest son, with Brownie being the inspiration in Jr's passion in his business of breeding and photographing his own dogs.

Ben was happiest when taking motorcycle rides with his wife or kids to watch the sunset or early in the morning to view the sunrise. Also, loving the random late-night trips to 7-Eleven with them for snacks. He loved having cookouts with his family and close friends just like when he was a kid on Seth Davis. Late night walks with the dogs to the beach with the whole family and rides around the beach or the ave listening to throwbacks, jamming out with his son, Mason were his happy places.

Daddy-daughter days were a must where they would fish, shop, have lunch or he would secretly teach her how to drive and change her own tire. He would let his "buddy", his youngest son ride his motorcycle with him, would pick him up from preschool and worked on cars and trucks with him. "He was my best bud." Monster jam and the pit party memories are some favorites.

He was part of the "Maritime Crew" at Maritime International and a Teamster for many years following in his own father's footsteps until most recently he went to Northen Wind to further his career. Ben's son also worked at Maritime side by side with Ben as operators on the forklift and taught him how to operate when he was 6 years old saying "I'd choose to work with my son before any other grown man."

Always remembered by his mom that they held each other in each other's hearts hearing his voice say "I love you Mom."

He is survived by his mother, Cheryl A. (Grimes) Cabral; Stephanie Cabral, the love of his life, his wife and best friend; his children, Benjamin David Cabral Jr., Mason David Cabral, Serenity Grey Cabral, and Davison Benjamin Cabral; his grandchildren, Ava Cabral, Benjamin D. Cabral III, and Salem Cabral; his sister and her husband, Kelley L. Cabral-Mosher and John Mosher and their children, his godson and nephew, Sean K. Mosher and Samuel D. Mosher; his mother and father-in-law, Maria and Manuel Cabral; his brother-in-law, Scott Cabral; his sister-in-law, Sandra Cabral and her daughter, his niece, Katia; as well as his dear friends, Ellie and Neil.

A Memorial Mass to honor his life and memory will be held on Saturday July 18th at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 795 Dartmouth St., South Dartmouth. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
