Bernadette M. Sylvia, 48, of New Bedford died April 12, 2016 at Brigham and Women's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Edward Sylvia and Carol A. (Michaud) Duarte, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her 3 sons, Jason Miguel, Jaryn Platt and Jeffrey Platt, all of New Bedford; her fiancé, Jose Montanez of New Bedford; a brother, Edward Michaud of Arizona; 2 sisters, Loretta DeRocco and Jody Roberts, both of New Bedford; a half-brother, Gerald Sylvia of Boston; 4 half-sisters, Pauline Lopes, Venessa Pereira, Susan Sylvia and Jackie Sylvia, all of New Bedford; 5 grandchildren, Tatiana, Janiesha, Camryn, Sahriah and Zoey.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 18th at 10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in the Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, April 17th from 2-6 PM.
