Bertha Lena (Johnson) Hall passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024 at the age of 81 after a series of health complications. Born on December 11, 1942, she brought into this world a strong and loving spirit.

Bertha was known by many names, "Bert," "Sissy," "Mom," "Nana," and "Nanny." Whichever name you called her, you knew her love for the "beautiful things" in life. These things include the little ones, plants, trees, flowers, stars, and fishing on the beach. She was an avid reader. She could always be found with a book in her hand. Bert also loved adventure! Travel was her passion and her happiest years were spent on the road. Whether traveling across the country in a semi, navigating with a map or jumping on a motorcycle to ride the back roads, she was always up for anything.

Bert was extremely proud of her family. She had a hefty family tree and many bonds of love. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Hall of Evergreen, AL; her father, Stephen Johnson and her mother, Lena (Jernigan) Johnson of Foley, AL; her sister, Edna Redwine of FL; her brothers, Claude Johnson of Foley, AL, Edward "Buddy" Johnson and Raymond Johnson of FL; and her daughter, Wendy Thompson (husband, Martin) of TX.

Bert is survived by her daughter, Tammy Piazza and her husband, Neil of Dartmouth, MA; two sons and their wives, Vaughn Thompson and Charmin of Loxely, AL; Dana Thompson and Karen of Robertsdale, AL.

Bert was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother to numerous children and was extremely proud to recently be promoted to great-great-grandmother.

Bert's loss is deeply felt by her family and all those who knew her. Her memory will live on in all of us.

Her visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM with a service immediately following at 2:00 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, MA. A burial service and celebration of life will be held in Alabama at a later date.
