Bertha D. (Vincent) Peirce, 95, of Fairhaven died Saturday December 20, 2008 at Our Lady's Haven, 3 days short of her 96th birthday. She was the wife of the late David T. Peirce.
Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late Manuel and Ethel (Harrington) Vincent, she lived in Fairhaven most of her life.
Mrs. Peirce was formerly employed at Saltmarsh's and Kresge's in Downtown New Bedford, and had also been a cafeteria worker for the Fairhaven School Department.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
Survivors include a son, David C. Peirce and his wife Beverly of Fairhaven; three brothers, Richard Vincent of California, Robert Vincent of Wareham, and Phillip Vincent of Oklahoma; a sister, Shirley Battistelli of Mattapoisett; two grandsons, David D. Peirce and his wife Susannah, and Bryan C. Peirce; and nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Milton, Kenneth, James, and Manuel "Joe" Vincent, Jr.
Her Funeral Service and visiting hours will be private. Burial will be in Naskatucket Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Mattapoisett. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Our Lady's Haven, 71 Center St. Fairhaven, MA 02719 or WHALE, 128 Union St. New Bedford, MA 02740.
