Bertrand A. Poulin, 82, of Fairhaven died Tuesday April 2, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Beecher Falls, NH, the son of the late Treffle and Medora (LeClair) Poulin, he lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven for many years.
Mr. Poulin was formerly employed as a construction worker for the Bricklayers Union.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army and later served in the National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0459 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a life member and Past Commander of the Pvt. A. Poirier Post 3260, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two children, Dennis Poulin and his wife Kim, and Tina Cox and her husband Timothy; his siblings, Angelina Merrill, Mary Jane Girouard, Albert Poulin, and Normand Poulin; four grandchildren, Todd and Tara Cox, and Victoria and Marissa Poulin; and nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Michael Poulin.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 8:30 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. His family will receive visitors at Church beginning at 8 AM. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
