Obituary

Beverly I. (Pike) Sherman, 70, of New Bedford died Sunday August 10, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Robert R. Sherman.

Born in Dartmouth, the daughter of the late Charles A. and Vera W. (Sowle) Pike, she lived in New Bedford for 65 years.

Mrs. Sherman was formerly employed by Universal Industries.

She was a member of the Dirty Dozen Club. She was a former Sunday school teacher at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

Survivors include five children, Walter Sherman and his companion Lisa Travers of Freetown, Nancy Prue and her husband Rick of Grafton, VT, Virginia Sherman and her companion Michael Herbert, Russell Sherman and his companion Joyce Barlow, and Carol Soares and her husband Jason, all of New Bedford; two sisters, Arlene Camara and Phyllis Medeiros, both of New Bedford; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Eleanor and Laura Pike.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:15 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery, Dartmouth. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
