Obituary

Bradley LeBaron Barrows, 69, of Mattapoisett, passed away April 29, 2007. He was the loving husband of Betty A. (Linhares) Barrows for 50 years this December.

He was the son of the late Edgar and Louise (Sherman) Barrows. He lived in Marion prior to moving to Mattapoisett at the age of 10. He graduated from Center School in 1953, and in 1956 graduated from Fairhaven High School where was on the football team.

Brad was formerly employed with Sullivan and Foster Construction as a heavy equipment operator. He also was the proprietor of "Brad's" in Mattapoisett for the past 32 years. During this time, he played on and sponsored their softball team that was part of the Capeway Softball League. The team was the league champion for six consecutive years from 1980 to 1985.

Brad had been a Natural Resource officer for the Town of Mattapoisett for many years and had also been a firefighter with the Mattapoisett Fire Department for 30 years, serving as Captain of Engine 1 for several years. He was also a past Master of the Mattapoisett Grange in his youth and had been a Sunday School teacher for the Mattapoisett Congregational Church for several years.

Brad had a great sense of humor and was loved by everyone he met. He had many good friends and will sadly be missed by all.

He was the loving and caring father of Dale Barrows and his wife Margie of Rochester, Barry Barrows and his wife Sharon, and Karen Barrows and Jason Clark, all of Mattapoisett. He was the loving grandfather of Nichole and Bradley Barrows of Rochester, and Kelly and Casey Barrows and Allison LaCrosse, all of Mattapoisett; great-grandfather of Cody Barrows of Rochester; and the brother of Phillip Barrows of Mattapoisett, Patricia Hiller of Marion, John "Jack" Barrows of Florida, and the late Richard Barrows. He also has many nieces and nephews.

His family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 5, 2007 from 1-3 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett.
