Brenda J. Gomes, 67, of Fairhaven, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Rosalie (DaLuz) Gomes and lived in Fairhaven for most of her life. Brenda was a graduate of Fairhaven High School and later earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Johnson & Wales University-an accomplishment she was deeply proud of and worked hard to achieve.
Brenda dedicated more than 30 years of service to the Massachusetts Trial Court system, where she was known for her strength, reliability, and kind heart. She formed many lasting friendships throughout her career and was someone others could always turn to for help, advice, or a listening ear.
Above all, Brenda was a devoted mother, loving aunt, sister, daughter, and friend. She is survived by her beloved son, Blake Martin-Gomes of Fairhaven, who was truly the center of her world. Brenda cherished every moment spent with family and friends, whether it was a trip to the casino, a game of keno, or simply talking for hours on the phone with those she loved. She found joy in caring for her plants and unwinding with her favorite TV shows.
Those who knew Brenda will remember her as strong-willed, determined, and a true fighter. She faced life's challenges with resilience and heart, and her loyalty, humor, and love left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Her visiting hours will be Friday, February 27, 2026, from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 28th from 11 AM - 2 PM at the Allendale Country Club, 1047 Allen St., Dartmouth.
Brenda's strength, warmth, and the love she gave, will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
