Bruce E. Sarmento

Bruce E. Sarmento, 54, of Fairhaven passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026 at home surrounded by his family after a year long battle with cancer.

Born in New Bedford, he was the son of Eugene and Mary (Sylvia) Sarmento, and attended New Bedford High School.

He was employed by Plumb House as a siding foreman for nearly 22 years, where he was fortunate enough to have created many lifelong friendships. Many of those friends were by his side during his final days.

Bruce was an avid sports fan and you could always catch him in a friendly, yet heated, debate with his friends while discussing sports. He enjoyed spending time at home watching his favorite sport teams, the Dallas Cowboys, Colorado Avalanche, New York Yankees, and Boston Celtics.

Bruce and Brandi enjoyed going out to dinner often at their favorite restaurants, but also loved venturing off to try new ones as well. They enjoyed taking rides in his Jeep, along with their dogs, by the water with the top off. They also enjoyed taking off to Maine or New Hampshire for weekends to enjoy the peacefulness of the outdoors.

He is survived by his companion, Brandi, with whom he shared a special bond for over 20 years along with her children, Kendra and her husband Brad and Mason; his parents, Eugene and Mary Sarmento of New Bedford; his sister, Sheri Sarmento of New Bedford; and his dogs Cosmo, Cody, and Sammy who meant the world to him, you could find at least one of them by his side at all times.

His Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 1-4 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. For directions and guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
