Carleton Dawson, 87, of Acushnet died peacefully August 20, 2024 at Tobey hospital after a brief illness surrounded by his family.
He was the husband of Cecile N. (Beaulieu) Dawson and the late Marie Antoinette (Hubert) Dawson.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Edward and Monica (Galuska) Dawson, he lived in Acushnet most of his life.
He was formerly employed as a truck driver with White's Dairy, Coyne Laundry and D.W. White for many years until his retirement.
Carl enjoyed cutting his lawn and tending to his garden. He was an avid New England Patriot's fan
Survivors include his wife Cecile; a son, Matthew Dawson and his wife Nancy of New Bedford; twin daughters, Karol Froh and her husband Mark of Acushnet and Karen Roderiques and her husband Lawrence of Punta Gorda, FL; 5 step-children, Marc Durocher and his wife Lea, Douglas Durocher and his wife Susan, Nancy Jesse and her husband Jeff, Sandra Cultbert and her companion Gino Santos and Gregory Pepin and his wife Melonie; 3 sisters, June White of Acushnet, Betty White of Rochester and Gail Klima of Virginia; 7 grandchildren, David Froh and his wife Sonja, Chris Froh and his wife Marissa, Kathleen Marie Roderiques, Marie Antoinette Roderiques, Nicole Lee Roderiques, Craig Dawson and Kerri (Dawson) Mello and her husband Keith; and numerous great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He was the grandfather of the late Harlyn H. Froh, II and the brother of the late Edward Dawson, Lowell Dawson, Eleanor Duponte, and Joyce Dawson.
His Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 30th at 10 AM in Long Plain United Methodist Church, 1215 Main St., Acushnet. His family will receive guests from 9 - 10 AM on Friday morning at church prior to his service. Arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
