Obituary

Carmen D. Cotto Sotomayor, 78, of New Bedford went to be with the Lord on May 13, 2024. Born in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Ramon Cotto and Marcola Sotomayor, she lived in New Bedford for 35 years. She was the wife of the late Felix H. Navarro, to whom she had been happily married for 44 years.

She is survived by her children, Carmen M. Navarro, Noemi G. Del Cid, Leticia Navarro, the late Rafael H. Navarro, Mahalin Y. Navarro Garcia, and Isabel A. Navarro; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Carmen was a devoted member of the Christian church Iglesia Rebaño Casa de Adoración in New Bedford where she attended weekly services and adored worshipping God. She touched the lives of those around her with her humility and soft smile. Carmen spent her days studying the scriptures in the Bible, writing spiritual poems along with creating music to praise God.

She leaves behind a legacy of love cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her center was her family, and her strength was God. Carmen was the most amazing mother, grandmother, and wife and wore those titles with pride.

Her visitation will be held on Thursday May 16th from 9-11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. The burial service will take place in Rural Cemetery right after visitation.

Carmen D. Cotto Sotomayor, de 78 años, de New Bedford, fue a morar con el Señor nuestro Dios, el 13, de Mayo de 2024. Nacida en Bayamón, Puerto Rico, hija del fallecido Ramón Cotto y Marcola Sotomayor, vivió en New Bedford durante 35 años. Era la esposa del difunto Félix H. Navarro, con quien había estado felizmente casada durante 44 años.

Le sobreviven sus hijos, Carmen M. Navarro, Noemí G. Del Cid, Leticia Navarro, el difunto Rafael H. Navarro, Mahalin Y. Navarro García e Isabel A. Navarro; 15 nietos y 15 bisnietos.

Carmen era una devota miembro de la iglesia cristiana Iglesia Rebaño Casa de Adoración en New Bedford, donde asistía a los servicios semanales y adoraba adorar a Dios. Tocó la vida de quienes la rodeaban con su humildad y su sonrisa. Carmen pasaba sus días estudiando las escrituras de la Biblia, escribiendo poemas espirituales y creando música para alabar a Dios.

Deja un legado de amor apreciado por todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerla. Su centro era su familia, y su fortaleza era Dios. Carmen fue la madre, abuela y esposa más increíble y llevó esos títulos con orgullo.

Su velorio se llevará a cabo el Jueves 16 de Mayo de 9 - 11 a.m. en el Hogar Saunders-Dwyer para Funerales, 495 Park St., New Bedford. El servicio de entierro se llevará a cabo en el Cementerio Rural justo después del velorio.
