Carol L. Andrade

Carol Louise (Dias) Andrade, 86, of New Bedford passed away peacefully in her home on Friday September 18, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Frances (Soares) Estrella and Henry A. Dias.

Carol was a dedicated housekeeper for over 20 years at Bedford Village Nursing Home and the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love and care touched the lives of everyone around her. She also had a feisty side that made her uniquely Carol - a little bit of sass, a lot of personality, and a spirit that will never be forgotten.

Carol found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially playing bingo and spending time at the casino. She loved having fun, dancing the jitterbug, making memories, and enjoying life.

She leaves behind her three beloved children, Reginald “Kippy” Andrade, Audra Andrade, and Vernon Gilmette; her brother, Douglas Estrella; six grandchildren, Ashlee Andrade, Torrey Depina, LeRynn Gilmette, Trent Depina, Shazan Gilmette, and Saejzan Gilmette; and five great-grandchildren, Peyton, Ashton, Aspen, Iziir, and Sevyn, who will forever cherish her love, laughter, and memories.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Edith Trowell, Henry Dias, Belfred Dias, and Thomas Estrella.

Carol’s passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. Though she is no longer with us, her loving heart, spirit, and feisty personality will live on through the generations she leaves behind.

She was deeply loved, she will be forever missed, and she will never be forgotten. A private family celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to SouthCoast Health at Home, 200 Mill Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
