Carol X. (Xifaras) Soenksen, 83, of New Bedford died Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at The Residence at Cedar Dell after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Charles "Chuck" Soenksen.

Born and raised in New Bedford, daughter of the late Michael and Georgia (Pappantoniou) Xifaras, she lived in La Jolla and San Diego, CA before returning to New Bedford.

Carol was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church.

She was formerly employed as a grade school teacher in New Bedford and later as a legal librarian in California. Upon returning to New Bedford, she was employed as a substitute teacher until her retirement.

Carol enjoyed traveling, sewing, making jewelry and her two favorite cats, Beau and Bella.

She is survived by two brothers, Dennis "Gig" and William Xifaras; five nieces; and one nephew.

She was predeceased by her brother, Atty. Robert Xifaras and her loving step-mother, Beatrice Xifaras.
