Obituary

Carole E. (Doucette) Pendergast, 86, of Fairhaven passed away on Friday October 3, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of the late John F. Pendergast.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Capt. Louis A. and Irene D. (Zygiel) Doucette, she lived in Fairhaven for most of her life.  She was a graduate of Fairhaven High School.

Carole had been a waitress at Mike's Restaurant in Fairhaven and Antone's Restaurant in Mattapoisett, as well as other area establishments for many years until her retirement.  She truly enjoyed socializing with all of her customers throughout the years. She loved them and they loved her in return.

Carole loved to dance and was a huge Tom Jones fan.  She enjoyed tending the garden at her home, which was a central meeting place in the neighborhood for family and friends.

She is survived by her five children, Kathleen Goldrick, Colleen Pickup, John Pendergast, Rochelle Manley, and Eileen Marques; her siblings, Albert Doucette and Elizabeth A. Zelski; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Michele Spangler; her grandchildren, David Spangler, Bethany Spangler, and Rory Pendergast; and her brother, Paul Doucette.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday October 8th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road, Route 6, Mattapoisett, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Church, Fairhaven at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday October 7th from 4-7 PM.
