Caroline (Costa) Monteiro, 91, of New Bedford died Saturday November 15, 2008 at New Bedford Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Manuel D. Monteiro.

Born in Lakeville, the daughter of the late Jack and Guilhermina L. (Martin) Costa, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

She was a member of the International Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Miranda and Jane DeBurgo, both of Taunton, Lorraine Craig and Priscilla Monteiro, both of New Bedford; a brother, Tony Costa of Lakeville; three sisters, Pauline Costa, Eileen Rozario, and Louise Lima, all of New Bedford; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Michael A. Monteiro, and sister of John Costa and Mary Cosmos.
