Obituary

Carolyn D. (Dudgeon) Perkins, 76, of Mattapoisett died Friday September 12, 2003 at Forestview Nursing Home in Wareham. She was the wife of the late Alan H. Perkins.

Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Stuart and Alice (Crosby) Dudgeon, she had lived in Mattapoisett for most of her life. She was a graduate of Center School, Fairhaven High School and the New Bedford Textile Institute.

Mrs. Perkins was formerly employed as an office clerk with the Town of Mattapoisett Water Department for 20 years, and had also been employed with the Town Treasurer/Collectors office.

Mrs. Perkins was a former Girl Scout leader, co-president of the Congregational Church Couples Club and a volunteer with the Mattapoisett Historical Society. She also had been a lifeguard and swimming instructor for the Town of Mattapoisett.

Survivors include a son, Alan H. Perkins, Jr., of Nantucket; 2 daughters, Faith C. Perkins of Mattapoisett, and Polly P. Lawrence of Rochester; a brother, Stuart A. Dudgeon of South Yarmouth; a sister, Faith D. Glennon of Mattapoisett; 4 grandchildren, Owen W. Perkins, Evan A. Perkins, Kerri A. Lawrence and Jarred M. Lawrence; 3 nieces, Elizabeth Hathaway, Cyndy Tillman and Leeann Gordon; and a nephew, Robert Dudgeon.

Her Memorial Service will be held on Friday September 19, 2003 at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett. Her family will receive visitors from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Burial in Cushing Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Mattapoisett Tree Committee, c/o Town Accountant, P.O. Box 435 Mattapoisett, MA 02739.
