Catherine E. Folger

Catherine E. Folger, 74, of Acushnet passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 15, 2026.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Anthony and Rosemary Folger, she was raised and lived in New Bedford most of her life until moving in with her sister and brother-in-law, in Acushnet. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School.

Cathy was formerly employed by New England Telephone as an operator where she took an early retirement. After that she was employed by HCC Aegis as a material handler until retirement.

She lived a quiet life, enjoying reading, Dunkin ice coffee, watching all types of sports and playing computer games. Her greatest love was for the cats she has had in her life. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring Auntie to her nephew and great nephew who lived next to her supporting everything they did in their lives.

She is survived by her sister, Susan Costa and husband Steve of Acushnet, her brother Steve Folger of Westford, her niece Stephanie, nephews, Brian, Justin and Nick, along with a great nephew Zachary, great nieces Madilynn and Amelia and a great-great nephew Jackson.

She was predeceased by her brother Christopher Folger.

According to her wishes no public services will be held. A small private celebration of life will be planned in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cathy's memory may be made to Lighthouse Animal Shelter, 596 Hathaway Rd., New Bedford, MA 02740. Arrangements were by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
