Celeste M. Fortes, 65, of New Bedford died Tuesday August 11, 2009 at Hallmark Nursing Home.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Daisy E. (Antone) Gilliam of New Bedford and the late Joseph Fortes, she lived in New York for many years before returning to New Bedford.

Celeste was formerly employed as a security officer at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City until her retirement.

She is survived by her mother and many cousins.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 1 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12 Noon until 1 PM, prior to the service. Burial will be in Acushnet Cemetery.
