Celeste M. Roy

Celeste M. (Denault) Roy, 70, of New Bedford passed away suddenly on Sunday August 16, 2026. She was the wife of Louis E. Roy; they had been married for 42 years.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Roger O. and Muriel J. (Lecomte) Denault, she lived in the Greater New Bedford area all of her life. Celeste cared deeply for her loved ones, had a zest for life, and loved visiting new places. She enjoyed music, learning about history and different cultures, and was very curious about the world around her.

Celeste was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Bristol Community College School of Nursing in 1980 and became a Registered Nurse shortly after. She worked as a Telemetry Nurse for St. Luke’s Hospital before transferring to Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. After over 35 years of service, she retired from the Southcoast Hospital Group and worked per diem for Brandon Woods Nursing Home in Dartmouth.

What Celeste loved most was spending time with her family and friends, traveling, dancing to live music, relaxing at the beach, getting lost in a book, and visiting museums and historical sites. She cherished the simple moments and the experiences shared with the people she loved. She was a true nurturer and devoted to her husband, her children and every member of her family. She brought joy and laughter to everyone she met and enjoyed life to the best of her ability!

She is survived by her husband, Louis; her daughters, Monique F. Roy and Alyssa E. Roy; and her siblings, Denise Denault, Father Paul Denault, Suzanne Denault, Louise Denault, and Marc Denault as well as her God-daughter and niece, Lori Denault. She also leaves her beloved family dogs, Rey and Daisy. She was the sister of the late David Denault, who passed in 1972.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday August 26 th at 10 AM at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mount Pleasant St., New Bedford. A memorial reception at the church hall will be held following the Mass at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating blood as there is currently a national blood shortage or planting a tree in her name. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
