Celia (Almeida) DeCosta, 94, of New Bedford died September 7, 2012 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antonio and Rosa (Raposa) Almeida, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and playing cards.
Survivors include her daughter, Jessica J. DeCosta of New Bedford; her granddaughter, Roseann Sylvia and her husband Stephen Sylvia, Jr. of New Bedford; her great-granddaughter, Sarah Sylvia; and 2 nephews, Tony Almeida of Fairhaven and Edward Ventura, Jr. of Wisconsin.
She was the sister of the late Olive Lima, Hilda Freitas, Mary Souza and Joseph Almeida.
Her private Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, September 10th at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial followed in St. John's Cemetery.
