Claire L. DaSilva

Claire (Thomas) daSilva, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on October 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Claire was the devoted wife of Gilberto daSilva, with whom she shared a life filled with love, family, and memories that will be cherished forever.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena Thomas and was predeceased by her brother, Robert Thomas.

Family was at the heart of everything Claire did. She was a devoted and loving mother to Eric Ouellette and his wife, Shanna; Kimberly Pontes and her husband, Jeremy; Kristin Botelho and her husband, Daniel; and Steven daSilva and his wife, Sandra. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and they were the center of her world.

Her greatest joy was being a Sithoo to Marissa, Matt, Trevor, DJ, Olinda, Jacob, Evan, Kalil, and Emily, who were truly the lights of her life. She loved her grandchildren deeply, and her great-granddaughter, Aliyah, held a special place in her heart. The love Claire shared with them will remain with them always.

Claire is also survived by her brothers, Joseph Thomas and his wife, Bernice, and Michael Thomas and his wife, Maureen.

For many years, Claire shared her love of dance as a dance teacher, bringing music, movement, and joy into the lives of those she taught. She had a special love for Arabic music, a passion that reflected her appreciation for the beauty and spirit of dance. Music and dance were more than hobbies to Claire; they were a part of who she was and a way for her to express herself and connect with others.

Claire also had a special love for all things leopard print and anything that sparkled. She loved her bling and never shied away from a little extra shine. Her style was as unique and vibrant as her personality, and those who knew her will always smile when they see a touch of leopard print or a little sparkle that reminds them of her. Claire knew how to add her own special flair to life, and she wouldn't have had it any other way.

Claire will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the strength of her spirit, and the special place she held in the hearts of her family. She created lasting memories throughout her life, and her love will continue to live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.

She will be forever loved, forever missed, and always remembered.

Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, October 17th at 8:45 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Divine Liturgy at Our Lady of the Purgatory Church, 4254 Acushnet Ave., 02745 New Bedford, MA at 10 AM.
