Curtis Cruz, Sr., 55, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 18, 2024.

Born in New Bedford, son of Darlene (Pina) Cruz and the late Robert W. Cruz, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.

Curtis liked listening to music, dancing, going to the gym and cooking. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working as a barber. Curtis was an avid Lakers and Patriots fan.

Survivors include his mother, his children, Curtis Cruz, Jr., of Tampa, and Tayleen Simas of New Bedford; his sister Melissa Cruz; his grandchildren, Diana Valladares, Camryn Cruz, Dez-moriah Nala Lee Vega, Harley Cruz, Jayden Struck, Dwayne Thompson, Kendrick Thompson and Tazmyn Lee Cruz; his nephews Trevor Shields, Marquis Cruz, and Marcell Goncalves; his niece Mikayla Goncalves; his close friends Scott and Mario; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is predeceased by his children, Tazmyn Soares and Chanel Cruz; and his father.

His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday October 30th at 11 AM at Hope Evangelical Community Church, 88 Hathaway Rd., Dartmouth. All are invited to meet directly at church. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday October 29th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
