Cynthia M. (Costa) Smith, 87, of New Bedford passed away Friday June 14, 2024. She was the wife of the late James E. Smith.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Joseph V. and Mary (Vieira) Costa, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.  She was a graduate of New Bedford High School.

Cindy was formerly employed as a medical secretary for Dr. Edward Lund at Pediatrics Associates until her retirement.

She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild.

She is survived by her son, Peter J. Smith; and her granddaughter, Haley Ann Smith.

She was predeceased by her sister, Nancy J. Pelletier.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday July 2nd at 10 AM at St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth.  Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Visiting hours are omitted.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Julie Billiart Ladies Guild Scholarship Fund, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02747 or Community Nurse Home Care, 62 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
