Dr. Damon R. Averill, Jr., 62, of Mattapoisett, MA died February 11, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Damon R. and Jean (Woller) Averill, he lived in New York, Wellesley, MA and Marblehead, MA before retiring to Mattapoisett 6 years ago.
Dr. Averill was formerly employed as a veterinarian at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital in Boston for many years until retirement.
He was a graduate of Cornell University.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Meredith "Mimi" Golden, of Mattapoisett; a brother, Dr. Eric Averill of East Bridgewater, MA; an aunt, Marion Wheelock of Ft. Worth, TX; several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Services were private.
