Dana E. (Richards) Vaitses, 58, of Mattapoisett, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024.

Raised in Hyannis Port, daughter of the late Ross Richards and Marilyn (Morley) Gilbert, she lived in Mattapoisett for most of her life.

Dana was very active in the Mattapoisett community and was the Secretary of the Friends of the Mattapoisett Council on Aging.

She wanted everyone to know that her children were her greatest joy and she loved them more than they will ever know. She enjoyed reading, crochet, and spending time with her friends and her dog Sebastian.

Survivors include her children, Ross Vaitses, Rook Vaitses, Cassie Vaitses, and Haley Vaitses; her brother Spencer Richards; and her close friends Dawn Forbes and Jim Mitcheson.

According to her wishes, her cremated remains will be scattered in the ocean near Hyannis Port.
