David T. Garrett

David Torrey Garrett, 60, of Barrington, Illinois, formerly of New Bedford and Mattapoisett, died at home on Monday, May 11, 2026.

He was born in Falmouth, MA on April 11, 1966 to the Reverend G. Kenneth Garrett and Mary Louise (Chubbuck) Garrett.

David graduated from New Bedford High School in 1984 and the University of New Hampshire in 1988. While at UNH David was a member of the Acacia fraternity where he met brothers who became lifelong friends.

He married Annette Roccapalumba on August 31, 2002 in Mattapoisett. David was devoted to his family and lived to take care of and provide security for his wife and children. He adored his wife and was proud of his children. His steady, quiet loyalty was woven into everything he did.

David loved boating and was happy behind the wheel of a boat with the sun shining on his face and water stretching out in front of him. He loved spending time with his family and friends and maintaining his garden.

He was proud of his New England roots and was a loyal fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Annette Roccapalumba-Garrett; their children Sean and his wife Terah of Seattle, WA and Victoria and her husband Kyle Alvarez of Barrington, IL; his mother Mary L. Garrett of Dartmouth; his siblings Emily Collins and her partner Mark Gagnon of New Bedford, Sarah and her husband David Wordell of Fairhaven, and Andrew and his wife Kathleen Hogan-Garrett of Powder Springs, GA; his niece, nephews, many dear friends and his dog Riley.

He was predeceased by his father The Rev. G. Kenneth Garrett and his brother-in-law James T. Collins.

A private family celebration of life was held in Mattapoisett. Burial services were private.
