David A. Santos, 74, of Taunton passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital.

He was born September 30, 1950 to Gilbert Santos and Ruth (Mathias) Santos.

David is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Deborah (DeOliveira) Santos; his daughter, Heather Daveiga, whom he adored, and his son-in-law, Armando Daveiga; his grandchildren, Ryan, Braylon, Izabella, Paisley, Armani, and Nyzel, who all called him Puppa; his brothers-in-law, John and David DeOliveira, that he considered his brothers; his father-in-law, John DeOliveira and his wife Elizabeth; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother, Stephen; his sister, Charlene; and his mother-in-law, Elaine DeOliveira.

David was employed as a Correctional Officer at MCI-Walpole for many years until his retirement. In retirement he was most recently employed as a Private Investigator licensed through the State Police, a job that he was proud and honored to perform. He was also known in New Bedford as the owner and operator of Like Nu Resale where he enjoyed meeting people and finding antique treasures and making people happy.

He was an avid collector of Ted Williams memorabilia and loved his Red Sox team. David enjoyed spending time with his family and his special friends. He had a heart of kindness and he would help anyone in need whether he knew you or not. He was a true gentleman.

His Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Lawrence Church, 565 County St., New Bedford, MA 02740, with everyone meeting directly at the Church.
