David P. Stephens, 61, of New Bedford died November 6, 2025 peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital after a brief illness surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Nakia L. (Brooks) Stephens.

Born in Natick, MA, son of the late David and Mary (Berry) Stephens, he was raised on Cape Cod and lived in New Bedford most of his life.

David was formerly employed as a mechanic at Langway Chrysler on Cape Cod and later at Auto Zone in New Bedford.

He enjoyed photography, camping, flying his drone, racing his RC cars and especially his car Ruby, a Cadillac DeVille.

Survivors include his wife Nakia; 6 children, John Stephens of Taunton, Kyle Stephens and his partner Erica Bonnenfant of Bristol, RI, Baylee Stephens and her fiancée Shay Rose of Fall River, Tyanna Stephens, Chyna Stephens, Dakota Stephens and his girlfriend Fatima Da Silva, all of New Bedford, and Lonnell Hodges who was like a son; his mother-in-law, Donna Brooks of New Bedford; four sisters, Geri Marquez of California, Nina Anderson and Victoria Kelley of Texas and Linda Stephens of Virginia Beach; and four nephews. He was the son-in-law of the late Ramon Brooks.

His funeral service will be private.
