David Preston Valley, also know as Pret, 95, of Mattapoisett passed away on April 11, 2011 at home surrounded by family following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Lorraine T. (Davis) Valley with whom he would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversay this coming October.
Born in Fairhaven, he was the son of the late David P. and Alice P. (Willard) Valley, as well as the brother of the late Jane Desrosier.
Incredibly hardworking, he was self-employed as a carpenter, logger and lobsterman.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David A. Valley and his wife Linda of Chesterfield, VA; two daughters, Linda Tilden and her husband Thomas of Marion and Alice Walsh of Mattapoisett; 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Pret was also the grandfather of the late Cameron Valley.
A private burial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Nurse and Hospice Care, 62 Center St. Fairhaven, MA 02719.
