Delores (Ferreira) Girouard, 78, of New Bedford passed at home peacefully Saturday November 28, 2009 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph Gerard Conrad Girouard.
Born in Killingly Goodyear, CT, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Ferreira of Boston, MA and Maria Ferreira of Portugal.

She enjoyed crocheting quilts, vacationing, the computer, supporting charities and spending time with her family. Her children will always cherish the memorable traditional gatherings with her sisters and brothers during Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.


Survivors include two sons, Gary Girouard and Joseph Peter Girouard; a daughter Gail DaFonte; three sisters, Edelena Dochek of CT, Edwina Souza and Pearl Thosz of New Bedford; six grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Alice Martel, Eria Medeiros, Manuel Ferreira and Abilio "Billy" Ferreira.


Donations in her memory can be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Her private Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, December 1st at the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery.
