Diane B. Hero

Diane B. (Baptista) Hero, 84, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday February 11, 2026. She was the wife of the late Ronald D. Hero.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Augusto and Charlotte (Lomba) Baptista, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

Diane was a talented hairdresser who owned and operated Diane's Beauty Salon in New Bedford for over 50 years. She also had been an operational manager for DePina Brothers Sand and Gravel in New Bedford for over 20 years.

She is survived by her children, Lisa Rose and her husband Kevin of New Bedford, David DePina and his wife Ana of Westport, Tony DePina and his wife Tanya of New Bedford, and Veronica Hero and her husband Clint Oliveira of Texas; her sisters, Anita Mendes and Penny Silva, both of New Bedford; her grandchildren, Kiana Rose, Kevin Rose, Noah Reed, Mikaya DePina, Caitlin McNeil, Courtney Ibarra, and Brianna Oliveira; her nephew, Kevin Mendes; her nieces, Melisa Carter and Heather Almeida; her great-niece, Logan McGee; many great-grandchildren; as well as extended family members and others who are considered family.

She was the aunt of the late Cheryl Mendes.

A private family service was held on Wednesday morning at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial followed in St. John's Cemetery.
