Diane C. Moreira
August 19, 1944 - January 6, 2025
Our loving mother, Diane (Dunn) Moreira, sadly and unexpectedly passed away on January 6, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA, due to an 18 year fight with Scleroderma.
She was born in New Bedford, MA to parents Helen and Maurice Dunn, being the first of six children and taking on the "Big Sister Role", she was always helping to take care of her siblings.
Diane attended New Bedford High school, class of 1963. She was part of the Pep Squad. Classmates always complimented her for her sweet personality. She married in 1965. Diane joined the workforce as a bank teller at Five Cent Savings Bank. This role gave her independence and a work family. Later, Diane welcomed three children David, Darin and April Moreira. Her children meant the world to her as she spoiled each one while instilling good values. She also felt blessed to become a Memere to Amanda, Kimberly and Catin Moreira. She treasured her time with her granddaughters and loved being their Memere, holding each moment with them dear to her heart.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Maurice Dunn; her husband, Armand Moreira; her sister, Janet Miller; her brother, Richard Dunn; two brothers-in-law, Andy Escancy and Emmy Miller, Sr.; and her sister-in-law, Maggie Dunn.
She is survived by two sisters, Jayne Beadnell and her husband John and Shirley Cox and her husband Fran; her brother, Wayne Dunn; three children, David Moreira, Darin Moreira and his wife Candi Borque, and April Moreira; three granddaughters, Amanda, Kimberly, and Catin Moreira, and 18 nieces and nephews.
Diane will always be remembered for the will to live, love and be loved, along with her contagious, heartfelt smile and laughter we shared with her. We couldn't have asked for a better mother, sister and Memere. She will be missed everyday and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her!
A private "Celebration of Life" will be announced at a later date.
With Diane's positive outlook on life, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Scleroderma Foundation ( https://schleroderma.org ) would greatly be appreciated.
FOOTPRINTS
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along
the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene,
he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
one belonging to him,
and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed
before him, he looked back at the f
ootprints in the sand. He noticed that
many times along the path of his life,
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very
l owest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it.
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow You,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is
only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed You
most You would leave me."
The LORD replied: "My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."
