Dolores Caton, 91, of New Bedford died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

Born in The Bronx, daughter of the late Manuel and Blanche (Brunelle) Correia, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.

Dolores was the proud founder of Down to Earth Natural Foods, first opening in 1977. She enjoyed dancing, sewing, landscaping, and rescuing animals. Dolores was a long time dog lover and was the founder the Humane Coalition for Animals of Greater New Bedford. She was on the Fairhaven Board of Health for many years.

Survivors include her children, Stephen Caton of Rehoboth, Catherine O'Berry of Dartmouth, and Laura Broekel and her husband Robert Szala of Dartmouth; her grandchildren, Nicholas O'Berry, Lindsay White and her husband Tyler, and Spencer O'Berry and his partner Rachel Medeiros; and a great-granddaughter Gloria Monteiro.

She is predeceased by her sister Loretta Ashworth.

A celebration of life will be held at the Down to Earth Farm Yurt at a date and time to be announced in the spring.
